Hello! Hello! My name is Kelsey. I am an avid book lover, which is why I created The Honeycomb Readery! Since I was a small child, I’ve always loved being able to pick up a book and escape into another world, with characters that I adore and despise. I believe reading is the easiest form of education that you can grant yourself. You can learn as much about the world and yourself from a $15 dollar book as you can for a $500 dollar course at University! There isn’t really any genre that I stick to when I’m hunting for a new book… I’ll read almost anything! I’ve read everything from survival guides, to biographies, to stories about friendship, to law books and murder mysteries. The only literature I can’t bring myself to read is romance novels. I know a lot of women absolutely enjoy these kinds of books, but I just can’t stand them. To each their own, I guess! The stories that really got me interested in reading were the Little Critter books by Mercer Mayer. That interest branched out to other genres and authors as I grew up. Some of my favourite authors include: O.R. Melling, Cecelia Ahern, J.K. Rowling, Ann Brashares, Jodi Picoult, Mitch Albom, Robert Munsch, and of course Dr. Seuss. Some of the other things in life I enjoy are training in Karate, test-driving restaurants, spending time with my family and boyfriend, and my guilty pleasure is watching Big Brother! I LOVE Big Brother! I hate mushrooms. I love traveling, I love visiting new places and meeting new people and experiencing new culture. I also like to bake. The only issue with the baking is that I suck horrifically at it, my cookies never come out right and usually when I’m baking my family runs and hides for the safety of their taste buds. Maybe I could do a “trial and error: cook book adventure” review? My signature accessory that I never leave home without is: my TOMS shoes! I have 6 pairs, and I love the One for One movement. There is so much more to me then books, karate and baking but I’ll save that for another day. Thanks for following!
My name is Ashleigh, but you can call me Ash. I love to read, so I was more than delighted when I was invited to be a contributor to the Honeycomb Readery. I was originally born in Germany, but have also lived in England, Alberta Canada, and currently reside in Ontario, Canada. I am about to enter my final year of University this September, and I always use my long summer months to catch up on as much non-university reading as possible. Reading is the perfect escape. I discovered this when I read the Harry Potter series between the ages of 8 and 18. Then the Twilight series followed and now any book is up for grabs for me to read. I don't have a particular genre that I prefer and I will read anything given a chance. There are so many lessons to be learned through fiction, and there is nothing more satisfying than turning the very last page of a book, reading the very last word and closing the cover. Complete. Another one for the archives. Aside from reading, I also love listening to music, photography and being out doors as long as it isn't too hot. My favorite food is pizza - you can put ANYTHING on a pizza, I have four tattoo's and counting, I believe in the paranormal (to some extent), I love my family more than anything, and I watch horror movies despite knowing that I'll come out of it being terrified. It's always good to be scared once in a while, it's a good way to check if you're still alive. I am a deep believer in love and all it's forms and the saying 'Love can conquer all' is gospel, and I think it is important to be true to yourself regardless of what others think - find your voice.
